Hurry is the enemy of peace, joy, and growth. Being distracted prevents you from becoming a better person.
This is true even in your workout. How many of you go on your phone between sets, distracting yourselves while trying to work out? Did you know that studies show if you focus on the muscle you're training, you activate more muscle fibers?
Rushing from set to set, and exercise to exercise, turns weightlifting into cardio – and does little to build your metabolism!
Lift with a present mind and real intent, not just trying to get through the set. I promise… You’ll get much better results.
Being present is very important for the joy of life and for results. Stop distracting yourself, create time with no distractions, and contemplate things that matter.
Think about the energy difference when we are present with our loved ones versus being distracted.
In fact, being “present” is a common theme among many faiths.
You can’t be happy if you're rushed. Everything is about going faster and faster - moving to the next thing.
This is also true with eating. Studies show the faster you eat, the more calories you consume. 😳
I know we’re all busy. But let’s take a moment this week and slow down. Slow down in the gym and make every rep count. Slow down with our nutrition to enjoy our food and not overeat. And slow down with our relationships to be present and enjoy each valuable moment.
Perhaps I’m thinking about this because I just had a birthday last week – and time seems to be flying by. 💪🏼
