There is no upper age limit to begin or keep lifting weights.
There is no age where it's too late to benefit from strength training.
Strength training maintains muscle, bone and joint health, balance, and strength, all keeping you healthier and more resilient later in life.
(And just so we’re on exactly the same page, “strength training” does not include 106 reps with 3 pound pink dumbbells. 🤷♂️ That would be “cardio” and can tear the body down vs. building it up.)
You'll see muscle growth and maintenance, bone and joint health improvement, and all the other benefits of strength training no matter when you start.
Keeping your muscle mass as you age has a big relationship with living longer and sustaining quality of life.
Keeping strong bones, strength, and balance can prevent falls or decrease the likelihood of a serious break.
I’ve seen that bad cycle time and time again… a fall, broken bones, now we have reduced mobility, followed by less nutritious eating, followed by slowed repair, and faulty rehabilitation.
Next we often see more muscle loss, further decreased mobility …and the downward cycle progresses rapidly.
But we can break that cycle!
We have the power to become stronger!
More mobile!
More resilient!
One day at a time.
One work out at a time.
One healthy choice at a time.
Let’s do the right thing!
Remember..
This isn’t just about eating right.
This isn’t just about hitting the gym.
This is how we do LIFE! 💪🏼
