Coming off of the Thanksgiving holidays and entering the Christmas season, I thought I’d just share a few training thoughts for females.
Workout Truths For Women:
✅ Strength training won't make women bulky.
✅ Protein powder labeled "for women" is marketing BS - women don't require special protein powder.
✅ Heavy strength training plus a slight calorie deficit is the key to looking toned.
✅ Women belong in the free weights area just as much as men do.
✅ Glute growth will eventually require coming out of a calorie deficit.
✅ 1200 calories is almost certainly not enough.
✅ Proper nutrition, exercise, and rest & recovery will have a profound positive impact on your hormonal levels.
✅ You cannot DIET all of the time! Even if your goal is fat loss, we must cycle in and out of different caloric levels.
✅ You cannot “out-cardio” bad nutrition. (more on this coming in the near future.)
I really enjoy working with my female clients. I think a lot of this has to do with seeing them excited and feeling empowered as they realize so much of the female oriented health and fitness idioms that they’ve been following for years and years are complete garbage.
More specifically, I enjoy working with women over the age of 40. Or over the age of 50. Or nearing… Well, never mind.
Most of them are moms who also have demanding jobs.
This list reflects some common advice I often give to my clients, as well as some of the common concerns I address with them.💪🏼
One more quick thought for the mothers… Put your oxygen mask on first! Please! Take care of yourself first.
We love you, and we need you! ❤️
